It’s all in the inches

It’s all in the inches

Well, I am down another 2 pounds… that puts me at 14 pounds down in seven weeks on my new exercise training program and diet.

Yeah… I like that.

But, what really matters is the inches because that is a far better measure of body fat in the absence of a body fat percentage test. Plus, it is easier to know that you are seeing success when your clothes fit better.

To be honest, some of my clothes are falling off right now, but that is beside the point.

Officially, I am the lightest I have been in some 14 years. As of this morning I was 214.2 pounds and the weight is on it’s way day. But, the really cool thing is that my gut is down 2.5 inches and my waist is down 1.5 inches.

For the first time in a long, long time, I am seeing the right kinds of increases. My thigh has increased .25 inches and my bicep has increased .5 inches.

When you go from 265 (last April) to 228 (where I was on December 1) people notice. When you go from 228 to 214, it isn’t so obvious to most of the people you encounter. The first part of my goal was a very public goal because people judge based on what they can see. This, the second part of my goal, is more for me. Most people won’t notice the changes I make (until I put on a swimsuit), but I will.

It is time to modify my goal a little bit. I want to lose 20 pounds of fat. But, I don’t want to be too much less on the scale. So, I am starting to change up my diet to be higher in protein and am going to try to limit my weight loss on the scale to no more than 1 pound per week. As I increase in muscle, this weight loss should be less than 1 pound per week.

It might take a couple of weeks to fully figure that out, but I sure like the results I am seeing.
